FFC was a system run by Ministry of Health (MOH) that allowed people who care for family members assessed as having high or very high support needs, to be funded for their time. FFC was restricted, it excluded the spouse, partner or civil union partner from being paid. The paid family carer had to be 18 years or older to be a paid family carer and the disabled person had to be 18 years of age to qualify for family funded carers. All payments were handled via a MOH agency. As of 14 April 2020 the rules changed.
What has Changed?
As of the 31 August 2020, FFC in the old format will no longer be.
If you already have FFC, your local NASC will contact you and discuss your best options. With Access Community Health you can choose to either transfer your services to us under the MOH or DHB contract, where your whānau can apply for a position as a family funder carer with you as their client, or you can transfer your services to us under the Individualised Funding (IF) package where you become the employee for your whānau member. You can also choose a combination of both options.

What if I already have IF? Can I hire Whānau now?
Call us and speak with one of our Navigators, they will be able to advise you on whether you are eligible. If you are new to IF speak with your NASC about getting an assessment and have them link you into our Connectors with a referral.
