One of the most highly trained teams in the industry
Access is committed to helping all of our staff to develop their skills and build up their qualifications.
In fact, your professional development begins as soon as you join the Access team − every new employee attends and completes an extensive induction course before working with our clients. And that’s just the beginning...
You’ll also have access to training that is specifically tailored to meet your needs, flexible as your career develops, and continually evolving in tune with the changing sector in which we work; so you can add to your qualifications and sharpen your skills, all while building on your work experience.
Take your career to the next level with Amida
Our commitment to training extends to having our own registered private training establishment, Amida Training (Amida).
All of Amida’s courses are either New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved or meet industry standards. This training involves a mix of:
- face-to-face learning
- self-directed study
- written assignments
- practical assessment in the workplace (overseen by Amida)
- work experience.
Support Workers
All our support workers are required to train to Level 2 of the National Certificate in Community Support Services and we encourage progress towards Level 3.
We also ensure that the training you receive meets your needs (distance learning options are available) and skill levels, particularly if you've found the education system difficult in the past. What's more, any training, skills or experience you already have is recognised and contributes towards your qualification.
Clinical professionals
For clinical professionals, ongoing refresher training and updates are provided to help keep you up-to-date with new and best practice methodologies.
Cultural awareness
In line with our vision of enabling all staff to make a positive contribution to the health and disability services of New Zealand, our Kaiwhakahaere Māori, or Māori Health Advisor, works to ensure a cultural framework for professional development for all staff. This strengthens cultural ownership, understanding and effectiveness through the organisation, including ensuring relevant Māori relationships and linkages are in place and working.
