our-approach

A highly-skilled team of over 3,000 staff.

When it comes to healthcare and support, the quality of our staff means everything. That’s why we pride ourselves on having a team that’s among the most highly trained in the industry. Most of our field coordinators are qualified nurses, and all of our support workers train for a National Certificate in Community Support Services. In fact, our commitment to training extends to NZQA accredited programmes, delivered by our own Private NZQA registered Training Establishment, Amida Training Limited.

In providing care and support within the community, the Access team is made up of eight key functions working together in offices throughout New Zealand.

Support workers

Support workers provide care and support to our service users on a day-to-day basis including personal care and household support. Appropriately trained support workers can also provide more complex support such as medication management, mobility assistance and bowel care.

Clinical staff

Clinical staff include qualified nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and social workers.

Community nurses

Community Nurses are usually registered nurses or enrolled nurses and work mostly in the field. They carry out social and clinical assessments, develop and oversee the Support Plan, review the effectiveness of our service, mentor, verify competency, and generally work closely with the support worker to provide effective care and support.

Care co-ordinators

The care co-ordinator's focus is on matching support workers to service users based on the support needs of the client. Placement coordinators schedule support worker visits so that our service is efficient, reliable and safe.

Regional managers

Regional managers oversee the delivery of our service including, in most cases, provision of clinical oversight.

Human resource officers

Human resource officers specialise in recruitment of support workers and management of all employment related matters.

Administration staff

The Access administration team manages all of the finance and administration processes including invoicing, accounts receivable and payable and payroll. Staff at our two centralised administration centres handle millions of transactions annually.

Quality and risk staff

Our quality and risk team work with our operational teams throughout the organisation to support implementation of our quality programmes. The team also provides specialist audit oversight for all of Access' services.
